About Jewston
Jewston is a project of Houston Hillel.
Hillel? Isn’t that just for college students?
Au contraire!
For longer than anyone can remember Houston Hillel has created a sense of community and meaningful Jewish experiences for Houston’s Jewish twentysomethings (21-29 years old). In fact, we spend about half of our professional time and resources on young professionals and graduate students at local universities, medical schools and law schools. Jewston helps graduate students and young professionals build relationships, engage in Jewish life and connect with the Houston Jewish community, the Jewish people and Israel.
Jewston is a non profit organization engages Jewish twentysomethings through individual and small group interactions and dedicated rabbinical support from Houston Hillel’s Executive Director, Rabbi Kenny Weiss. Everyone is welcome at Jewston. With only a few exceptions our events are free and you’ll rarely have to rsvp. We welcome LGBTQ participants, those from interfaith backgrounds, and everyone's Jew-adjacent friends.
We do stuff that you'd expect, like Shabbat dinners, campus lunches, and learning opportunities. But our real pride and joy is creating a sense of community among Houston’s Jews in their twenties. Whatever Jewston program you happen to attend is really just our way of helping you make new friends and deepen the relationships you already have.
Keep up-to-date by joining our Facebook group. Many interest groups make up Jewston, and we’re changing them up all the time, depending on people’s interests. We’d love for you to give us a call to say hello or suggest an event.
