Meet Ben: Jewston's Mensch of the Month!

Carly: Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?

Ben: My name is Ben Kassel. I am from Yucaipa, California (A somewhat small town at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains between LA and Palm Springs). I work as a hybrid Meteorologist/Flight Planner (The easiest way to describe my job is it’s like aircraft dispatching, but for private/charter flights)

Carly: What was your 'Jewish experience' like in college?

Ben: In college, I attended some of the Shabbat services at the Oklahoma Hillel. I wasn’t as active as I wanted to be since I was busy with my upper-division math courses, Meteorology courses, and storm chasing from time to time with friends.

Carly: How has your time in Houston been so far?

Ben: In Houston, I’ve had a good time so far. My biggest surprise would be the I-10 traffic. Didn’t expect it to compare to SoCal’s traffic.

Carly: What do you do for fun?

Ben: For fun, I like to cook, workout, go to the beach or go swimming, go on hikes, travel, watch sports, and do a spontaneous storm chase or two (if the opportunity ever arises).

Carly: What do you enjoy most about Jewston events?

Ben: One thing I would like the Jewston community to know is whoever nominated me for this, thank you very much. That is all. That is it. Mic drop.
